Our Story
Word Power Church began over 13 years ago, on May 15th, 2011. We began meeting in a hotel ballroom with approximately 70 attendees. From there, we leased a space on Gulf Freeway, where we began to grow and thrive in the League City Community. At which time, the Pastors began to build bridges of support and involvement in City Government by partnering with the League City Police Department Chaplain’s program as official Chaplains. The church remained in the storefront property until 2017, when services were relocated to a local CCISD Intermediate School. Services remained at Victory Lakes Intermediate School until the onset of the 2020 pandemic.
We began our fully accredited bible college (School of Divinity), Word Power Bible College (WPBC) in 2015. Our program and curriculum offer individuals both a 2-year Associate Degree or Certification in Biblical Studies. To date, we have graduated (4) classes. Displaced by COVID-19 from a shared LCPD facility in September 2020, we implemented an all-inclusive online program whereby none of our classes were interrupted. Word Power Bible College is a college for individuals desiring to know the hidden mysteries in The Word of God or for those who just want to deepen their understanding and relationship with God and soon to be international.
Our heart was to continue in ministry even during the pandemic, but we were without a facility to assemble. From there we prayed, and our pastors heard from God to begin hosting outdoor services. Displaced but not defeated, we continued to trust God and stand on His Word for direction. We were led to the La Marque/Texas City area where we found a good location for Drive-In church services. We obtained the proper approval and began meeting while following and practicing proper CDC guidelines. Additionally, for those uncomfortable with assembling, all services were and are currently recorded live stream. We began to assemble in a parking lot at the Mainland Centre Mall in Texas City, and throughout the pandemic the church continued to grow and thrive.
After meeting outdoors for 2 years, our church purchased approximately 7.5 acres of land, debt free. We were meeting outdoors for approximately 3 1/2 years, until we purchased the WP Life Center, where we have gathered for about 1 year. Here we have continued our community enhancement efforts with the WP Bible College and started a satellite facility for the Joseph Business School, a biblical business school under Bill Winston Ministries. We have also initiated the Aviation Project, where we help young adults to receive a new perspective about their careers. Word Power Church (WPC) is a church mandated by God to love, set free, and restore His people. In that, we have and will continue to be a blessing to the community from young to old. In order for us to complete this mandate effectively, we desire to serve the needs in a building without debt. Word Power Church will be a blessing to the community by changing lives and being one of the biggest benefactors in reversing and restoring the old waste places for the greater good of the community.
Pastor Brian is a former La Marque resident and a 1990 graduate of La Marque High School. He has a heart for the community of La Marque and Texas City and desires to continue in the revitalization of the city and community. He furthered his education by receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from Lamar University in 1996. Since returning to the La Marque/Texas City area, he envisions and has implemented a plethora of ways to invest back into the community that are nonetheless rooted and grounded on servicing people and having unconditional love for all. This alone adds value, hope and blessings back into the community.

what we believe
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God. Its authority is final, and that upon which we base our faith, conduct, and doctrine.
2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105; Psalm 119:160; Proverbs 30:5
The trinity
We believe there is only one true God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three distinct Persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
the holy spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit instructs and guides us into all truth. He is our Comforter, Counselor, and imparts gifts to us for service.
John 14:26; John 15:26; Luke 12:11-12
jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and came to earth as Savior of the world. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, but rose again and ascended to heaven.
Acts 2:22; Acts 10:38; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2
salvation
We believe salvation is found when a person surrenders their life to God through Jesus Christ. Salvation is not through good works, but only by accepting Jesus.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, John 1:10-12; Titus 3:4-5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1
water baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion. Water Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism is a public declaration of your acceptance of Jesus as Savior.
Acts 2:41; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 10:47-48; Matthew 3:6; Mark 1:5
holy spirit baptism
We believe that The Baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers believers and provides additional gifts to do the work of the ministry. This is a distinct experience following salvation which is physically evidenced by speaking with other tongues.
Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 24:49; John 1:32–33; Acts 1:4-5; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:
1-4; Acts 8:12-17; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 11:14-16;
divine healing
We believe that divine healing of the sick is provided for through Christ's death and resurrection. God hears and answers prayers offered in faith for those who are sick and afflicted.
Isaiah 53:4-5; Matt. 8:16-17; James 5:14-16
communion
We believe in receiving Communion to remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us and remind us of the new covenant. The elements are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood.
Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29
christ's return
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth in power and glory and the establishment of His kingdom. All believers, both dead and alive, will rise to meet the Lord and live with him forever.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Titus 2:13
eternal life
We believe Man’s spirit was created to live forever. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence. We believe that our eternal destination is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe God gives man eternal life in heaven only through Jesus Christ.
John 3:16; John 3:36; John 10:28-30; John 17:3; 1 John 2:17; 1 John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23
